m&m begins - 06.21.2015
Sunday Jun 21, 2015
Sunday Jun 21, 2015
m&m begins (June 21) There are over seven billion people on this planet, but there is only one you. What makes you so special isn’t that you are greater, better, faster, smarter… but simply that you are different. That’s important because it means that you are particularly shaped to make a contribution no one else can make. For two weeks, starting on June 21, we are going to discover how that shapes who we are as a church and what we do in the world. It’s your m&m. It makes life more fun and the world a better place. Sunday Jun 07, 2015
Engaged! The Good Soil (June 7) In Jesus' parable of the sower, seeds can only take root in good soil. You are good soil! Your soil is the part of you where your faith isn't in the way, but really matters and helps you to grow. There is no magic formula for this, but today we'll dig into the characteristics of this faith that we do know, and talk about how to engage in the world to let your soil bear fruit.Find more resources at www.jacobs-well.net/leftovers.

Dirt 3: Distractions "The Weeds" - 05.31.2015
Sunday May 31, 2015

Distractions - The Weeds (May 31): “Some seed fell among thorns which grew with it and choked it.” Pixar’s
movie, UP, is famous for Doug, the dog’s “Squirrel!” spottings and
immediate loss of attention. Like Doug, our lives are full of
distractions. You’ll never eliminate them all, but you can’t give into
them. Someone once said, “If the devil can’t make you bad, he’ll make
you busy.” True enough good stuff, bad stuff, just stuff fills our lives
and distracts us from what life’s about. Don’t get distracted...More resources related to this message at www.jacobs-well.net/leftovers

Dirt 2: Intentions "The Rocks" 5.24.2015
Sunday May 24, 2015
Sunday May 24, 2015
Intentions – The Rocks (May 24): “Some seed fell on rock, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture.” Sometimes we need to be saved from our good intentions. We get enthusiastic, say all the right things, go through the motions, but whatever it is never had a chance. We never let it take root. God’s got some stuff for you that is too valuable to let that happen. It’s time to do what Jesus did and talk about intentions.More resources related to this message at www.jacobs-well.net/leftovers

The Daily Examen - A simple practice for spiritual growth
Saturday May 23, 2015
Saturday May 23, 2015
Spiritual growth is natural. It isn't about becoming perfect or holy in some non-worldly way. It is simply the experience of aligning what you think, say and do with God in ways that make sense for your life, right now. Here is a segment from Nick Tasler's message with Jacob's Well on May 17, 2015 in which he explained how it works. Try it out.

Dirt 1: Habits "The Path" - 05.17.2015
Sunday May 17, 2015
Sunday May 17, 2015
The Path: Habits (May 17): “Some seed fell on the path and was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up…” Habits create paths that run right through the garden of our lives. We need them to deal with all possibilities of life, but they also create hard-packed, impenetrable places in us where new stuff can’t take root. You won’t get rid of all your habits and shouldn’t, but how do you keep them from keeping you from growing? We thank Nick Tasler, JW-er, CEO of Decision Pulse and all around smart and big-hearted guy, for kicking off this conversation today!

Neighborhoods That Make Neighbors (May 10): Roads, open spaces, benches, fences & doors can make us one, or make us separate. They can say, “Welcome neighbor” or “You’re not welcome here.” Let’s learn how to love our neighbors through our built environment. Sara Joy Proppe has taken on the Built Environment as her mission in life and can teach us a lot about how to let our geography match our hearts. Check out her guide for a Neighborhood Walk here.

Sunday May 03, 2015
One great step of wisdom is realizing that you’ve got a bus with seats you need to fill with some very special people. People who not only help you make better life-choices, but who make any journey amazing when they’re on board. Who’s on your bus?
