Revolution: fantastic not fanatic (Dawn @ Field)

When you read the paper and watch the news, do you get the impression that there are pretty much two options when it comes to religion: you can be a fundamentalist which is taken to be rigid and judgmental…or you can be spiritual which is taken to be anything and everything goes. Are you as tired of this false dichotomy as I am? I think there’s another way and I think we should talk about it!

Life's a pain and then you: Train (Peter @ Longfellow)
Monday Oct 17, 2011
Monday Oct 17, 2011
It happens all the time and usually comes out of nowhere. Long before the *stuff* ever hits the fan, wouldn't we be smart to put some energy into getting ready for it? Preparing is a big part of enduring, and maybe even a bigger part of thriving. So rather than being hit by one, let ‘train’ refer to how you live so that you can be up for the challenge God’s got in mind for you.

Life's a pain and then you: Deal (Greg @ Field)
Tuesday Oct 11, 2011
Tuesday Oct 11, 2011
There’s a “pity party” on one side and a “get over it” message on the other. Neither help too much. But no matter who’s at fault, nor how deep the wound, we each have to deal with what life’s thrown at us and build a future. God’s got a big stake in that. And God has a lot more than sympathy and kicks in the butt for us. So let’s get creative and discover what’s next.

Life's a pain and then you: Fade (Dawn @ Longfellow)
Tuesday Oct 11, 2011
Tuesday Oct 11, 2011
If you're not feeling like life's a pain and, in fact, you might even say life is good, this week will put a burr in your saddle. Consider that times of smooth sailing have a purpose beyond just kickin' back, enjoying the ride, or breathing a sigh of relief that you’re road is smooth. Maybe it’s time for you to fade a little and shine the spotlight on someone who needs you. Warning: This may be the best ride of your life, but seatbelts are required.

Life's a pain and then you: Grasp (Greg @ Field)

"I can’t make it!” That’s been gasped a million times. And even when we don’t say it, we scream it in our hearts. After all, it’s true. “I” can’t, but “we” can. All those people around you… they are pillars for your life. Learning God’s vision for this helps us know who to have in our lives and how to use them. Surround yourself with people who matter now! And before you go it alone, stretch out your hand and grasp hold of Jesus’ hand attached to a friend’s arm!

Life's a pain and then you: Sync (Greg @ Longfellow)
Monday Sep 19, 2011
Monday Sep 19, 2011
Interviewer: “So, how well do you know the Creator of the universe?” Respondent: “Um, like what do you mean? I know about him. Er, her, or… whatever. I mean we talk… sort of.” Interviewer: “Can I say, not BFF’s?” Respondent: “Yeah, I s’pose.”
That’s a problem, isn’t it? If God’s at the center, and God’s a functional stranger, then there’s some work to do to get in sync. Let’s plug-in.

What do you hold most dear? (Greg @ Field)
Monday Sep 12, 2011
Monday Sep 12, 2011
Do you remember where you ten years ago when the World Trade Center towers fell? That event had an enormous impact in our national and individual consciousness. But it wasn't just that event, other towers of our society have tumbled. Housing, pensions, stock market, careers and the jobs that make them, leadership. When things start crumbling we start worrying. And when we worry, we have a tendency to turn in on ourselves and hold on to those things that we hold most dear, those things we treasure and can't imagine living without.
God knows this about us and know that it destroys people and community. Jesus had another idea. We're wondering if we couldn't start to trust that way of living.
Join us as we have a unique experience that takes this Jesus way of living and see where it leads us.

GODFLIX: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (Justin @ Field)
Tuesday Aug 30, 2011
Tuesday Aug 30, 2011
When J.K. Rowling began creating the world of Harry Potter over 15 years ago, she probably didn't have any idea that it would have such a big effect on so many people. Now, with the movie adaptation of the final book breaking records in the theaters, there are probably millions of Muggles out there mourning the end of the series. But what does Harry Potter really have to teach us about endings? Come join us at Field next week when we'll discuss the magic of Harry Potter, and how God wants us involved in the rebuilding of things once death is defeated.
