Undressing Jesus (Terry Esau)
Thursday Jul 12, 2012
Thursday Jul 12, 2012
In the last few years I've seen more Jesus' wandering around America than department store Santas. While all the St. Nicks bear a strong resemblance to one another, many of the Jesus' show more disparity than similarity. Not many sound like the guy in the gospels. Not many show much courage or conviction. Not many have figured out how to be against somethingwithout being against someone. Not many of them seem to like us, let alonelove us.

Speed Of Life: Don't Get Ahead (Greg)
Monday Jun 25, 2012
Monday Jun 25, 2012
The speed of life is run with other people, not ahead of them. Living with other people is great! Livingout front is just plain lonely. You have a team. They are the ones who make you 'successful' in life. They are the ones who give your life meaning. Sharing life with them is one of the most demanding and selfless things you can do - and it's probably the most important. This isn't just an insight, it is something we need to learn about and practice. Let's start now!

Speed Of Life: Be Last (Greg)
Monday Jun 18, 2012
Monday Jun 18, 2012
The high flying sectors of our society are all abuzz with how to lead. That's great, the world needs us to be better leaders, but something's missing. Following. What if some of the most important roles you ever play in life won't be from the front of the pack, but following up in the rear? Living at the speed of life may send you to last place. Are you all right with that? God is. You can be too. Jesus couldn't talk enough about it, let's join in the conversation.

Speed Of Life: Stop For Water (Greg)
Monday Jun 11, 2012
Monday Jun 11, 2012
(This is a partial recording. The message was given at Minnehaha Falls Park. It was recorded on a cell phone.)
You've been told to slow down a million times. You've heard the difference between the human race and the rat race just as many. It hasn't made any difference has it? What if it wasn't about slowing down? What if the speed of life wasn't a speed at all, but living fully while remembering a couple things that made whatever you did life giving not exhausting? Yes!

Real People: What I learned from real life (Greg and guests)
Wednesday Jun 06, 2012
Wednesday Jun 06, 2012
It really is about you - at least about what God is teaching you. And not just here, or through any so called 'religious' channel, but everywhere. What God has to show us is so big it won't fit into the little scraps of life we give God. So God pops up in all sorts of places in the guise of real life. Next Sunday I'm going to tee up the ball and let a few other everyday - and totally exceptional - Jacob's Well folks drive it home with what they've learned in real life.

Real People: What I learned driving a forklift (Greg)
Friday Jun 01, 2012
Friday Jun 01, 2012
I was first going to be a scientist, then a theologian and along the way got turned into a preacher. What I never figured I'd do was drive forklift, but a summer job doing that not only helped pay for college, it taught me some of the best life lessons I've ever received. Funny how God isn't restricted to the 'official channels' to give us what we need. God gets unleashed in the alleys behind the classroom. This Sunday I'll share some of what I learned driving forklift. What have you/are you learning on the side streets of your life? ~Greg

Real People: What I learned running a restaurant (Peter)
Sunday May 20, 2012
Sunday May 20, 2012
When I was 15, I walked from the kitchen and into the dining room of the restaurant for the first time. Who knew then that a part-time job as a busboy, setting tables and clearing plates would lead to a career in hospitality? Along the way I've encountered thousands of co-workers and hundreds of thousands of guests and expect that each one of them has affected me in ways big and small. Fifteen years ago, I opened the doors of my own restaurant and now I can't help but wonder how this experience has shaped me for the next phase of my life. God has been doing some pretty amazing things all along and in the process I've picked up a few insights that might be worth passing on. Sunday will be my last time preaching as an intern at Jacob's Well so I'd like to invite you into my world for a little while and see what we might discover together. ~Peter
