Get Grinched: The Heart of Hope
Tuesday Dec 11, 2012
Tuesday Dec 11, 2012
Without a heart full of hope... what's life? Christmas has a way of making us feel more hopeful, but sometimes it is more a product of glimmering snow and eggnog than anything that is going to last. Where do you look for hope? What do you expect to find it in? Given that hope, by definition, isn't for sure...it's hope afterall... how does your heart get big enough to hold on to it and not let it go?

Get Grinched: The Heart of Justice
Wednesday Dec 05, 2012
Wednesday Dec 05, 2012
One of my problems is that I truly love humanity, it's people I have trouble with...You too? Many of us would ask for world peace if we could coax a wish from a genie, but on a day to day basis we happily benefit from the systems that keep the poor poor, and lose no sleep when five babies are killed by a rocket in Gaza. Christmas isn't only cute and cozy, Jesus came so the world could actually be different. He grew up with a huge heart for justice. God wants to enlarge your heart.

Get Grinched: The Heart of Wonder
Tuesday Nov 27, 2012
Tuesday Nov 27, 2012
Just like the Grinch, your heart can become two sizes too small when you forget about the wonder of Christmas. The noise of commercials, Christmas lists and shopping can become your focus. Remember the shepherds in the Christmas story? They are quietly tending their sheep when their whole world is filled with an amazing event. So take a step back, still your heart and wonder with the shepherds in the good news of this little baby who comes, not as a king, but as one among us. Grow your heart another two sizes as you rediscover the wonder of Christmas.

Giving Thanks
Tuesday Nov 20, 2012
Tuesday Nov 20, 2012
What are you doing this Thanksgiving? One thing might be to join us to give thanks. Next Sunday we will pause before we all dive headlong into the Thanksgiving/Christmas maelstrom so we can get the holidays off on the right foot. And while we're getting this gratitude thing straight, we'll celebrate a couple baptisms. That's worth giving thanks for too! So before you start the holiday season, stop...

Broke: Doing it Right (Greg)
Wednesday Nov 14, 2012
Wednesday Nov 14, 2012
It's easy to be broke, but God doesn't want you to be. What God wants broke is the grip your money has on you. God never intended anyone's wealth and resources to be chains. God wants them to be blessings. Once you've broken those old chains and got your budget and debt under control it is time to focus on the positive task, the fun part: what all that money was there for in the first place! Just think about it, money that doesn't take you down, but to a whole new level! Broke: Getting Control Back (Melissa)
Tuesday Nov 06, 2012
Tuesday Nov 06, 2012
Does it seem like all you've been hearing about lately is the economy...the national budget, our state's budget, your own budget? Do you ever want to turn off all the noise? The belief that we don't have enough money controls much of the conversation, and too often much of our lives. We will talk about how a budget can help us reshape the conversation so we can budget with a focus on gratitude for the abundance we have. Broke: Breaking the Grip (Greg)
Monday Oct 29, 2012
Monday Oct 29, 2012
Time to talk about fixing what's broke. So how do you go about Breaking the Grip that money and stuff have on your life, and still function as a real person in a real world? It starts by knowing the score, realizing the deal you've got isn't in your favor and that you are more, in God's eyes, than a consumer. You'll be amazed. And then you'll be ready to put unbroken pieces back together. Broke: What's Broke? (Greg)
Tuesday Oct 23, 2012
Tuesday Oct 23, 2012
Money's Grip on You: Not many people couldn't find a way to spend their whole year's salary in one week if they had the option. Not many people would be much happier if did. Life isn't about the money, but somehow we keep living as if it were. So before you go broke, it's time to break the grip of money on your life. As we move on in to fall and all the decisions and commitments we make during it, and before the Christmas madness sets in, we're going to take time to look at how money can serve us instead of control us. It's God stuff, in a lot of ways.
