Awestruck wk 2 - People are Awful
Tuesday Jul 15, 2014
Tuesday Jul 15, 2014
You've probably heard the line about not one snowflake being the same and how the same is true about human beings. Well, that's kind of corny, but it's true! The next time you're sitting on a patio, or walking the Midtown Global Market, or eating cheese curds at the fair, stop and see each "neighbor" who walks by. Find a filled-in version of the outline from the message here.Mike Rusert, preaching

Awestruck wk 1 - The Beginning of Wisdom
Friday Jul 11, 2014
Friday Jul 11, 2014
Come on, admit it, you have stopped to stare at a flower, a baby, and your cell phone – mouth wide open – thinking, “This is freaking amazing!” We live in a universe we will never fully comprehend, which is filled with phenomena, creatures and things we will stand in awe of no matter how smart we get. This doesn’t prove God exists or anything like it, but it sure does give us some perspective from which to see ourselves and learn our place. And it is kind of fun! Join us in being jaw-dropping amazed this July. This service was held outdoors at Minnehaha Falls, Please excuse the hum in the backgound....

Something we’ve noticed in the nearly eight year life of Jacob’s Well it is that those Jacob’s Wellers who aren’t here yet have moved along the continuum from being unengaged to uninterested. You may have experienced this, finding it harder and harder to share your enthusiasm for a life that includes God and your connection with this community, Jacob’s Well. Does that mean God and church don’t matter? And if they do, how, when and why would we share it? It’s time to sort out our thinking and to find ways to talk about what really matters.

A spring of water gushing up within you of endless life. This audacious saying of Jesus isn’t referring to global water supplies, but something in us that can be different than it normally is; some thirst quenched, ache relieved, dying reborn. While we seek to deal with real water issues in the world around us, we can’t neglect the spiritual water issues within us. After all, it takes more than the right external conditions to make life fully meaningful; there are conditions within that also need our attention. Let’s talk (and grow!)
