Leftovers - God? Get Real. Week 2
Tuesday Dec 06, 2016
Tuesday Dec 06, 2016
Greg Meyer, Melissa Lock, and Chris Tripolino reflect on some of the questions and concepts Greg raised in his message this week about God and, specifically, the Bible. Is it worth it to dive into the archaic, confusing, constantly misused collection of writings? Maybe it could be a place where we see God get real.

God? Get Real 2: Was God Real Back Then?
Sunday Dec 04, 2016
Sunday Dec 04, 2016
December 4: Was God Real Back Then? A virgin having a baby, angels talking to shepherds, kings getting mystical messages and following a star across a continent, a baby born in a stable… We learned it all so early that it just became the story… until someone ruined it by making us hear it with grown up ears. But our ears aren’t just grown up, they are 21st century ears. What did happen back then? Are we letting our different worlds rob us of mystery that needs to be told in new ways today? Let’s listen again.

God? Get Real 1: God, Just a Good Idea?
Sunday Nov 27, 2016
Sunday Nov 27, 2016
God, Just a Good Idea? Christmas is cool, it’s full of great things that bring out the best in people. (Ok, some of our not-so-great traits too, but we’ll overlook that for the moment.) Christmas being about God and Jesus and all that stuff, however… not so cool. One could say that claiming God’s presence in the world has become the territory of fanatically religious people and if you don’t want to be one of them, then you are left with God, the Good Idea. Are those really the only two choices? Or are we trying to answer the wrong question. Thanks for listening!

Leftovers - Better Than Compromise 3
Monday Nov 21, 2016
Monday Nov 21, 2016
This podcast is an experiement! We love those.
Listen in as Greg Meyer and Melissa Lock discuss some insights about 'The Journey to Better Than Compromise' on Monday morning that didn't make it into Sunday's message. They are exploring how creating the sort of relationships we need for BTC rely on strong social capital*, and what that is and how it happens. They also link it to our Jacob's Well ideas about creating a Growth Zone between our Comfort and Danger Zones**.

Better Than Compromise: The Journey to Better than Compromise
Monday Nov 21, 2016
Monday Nov 21, 2016
November 20 – The Journey to Better than Compromise starts with you, but moves quickly beyond you. It has one tool that it cannot travel without. This week we’ll learn about and practice that tool. It is one you already own and are familiar with, but you probably don’t realize that it works at times when you’ve been relying on another tool. There is something better than compromise, something that brings dignity, possibility and hope to us. It is not easy, but the destination is worthy of the journey.

Better Than Compromise: A Commitment to The Big Win
Sunday Nov 13, 2016
Sunday Nov 13, 2016
A Commitment to The Big Win
That’s what it takes. It’s the win that understands that everything on the table, including what you brought, isn’t as good as it could be. You won’t realize that if you are still seeing the world from your perspective. So what does it take to see the world the way someone else does? Or the way God does? And not only see it, but value it that way? When that happens, then ‘The Big Win’ becomes something you’d do anything for, even though you’re still just discovering what it is.

Better Than Compromise: What's Wrong with Compromise?
Sunday Nov 06, 2016
Sunday Nov 06, 2016
What’s Wrong with Compromise? Tuesday we elect a new president, members of congress, governors, and more. Predictions are that half of us will be winners and half losers. But if we look at it that way we are actually all losers. There is another possibility… if we so choose, we can turn this and every situation into one in which we are all winners. There is something better than winning and losing, and it isn’t compromise. It is a wholly new creation that takes more than we have right now. Ready to discover what’s better than compromise? Great! Thanks for listening.
