Fabric Podcast
Welcome to the Fabric podcast! Fabric is a thoughtful, progressive experiment in being church, based in South Minneapolis. We love hosting space where curiosity, connection, and inclusive belonging have space to stretch out and get comfy. Take the time you need to explore what we’re about, and when you’re ready, connect however feels best. The conversation is always fresh! Fabric is church, for the rest of us. #FabricMpls

Boxes: Disrupting the Classroom
Sunday Jul 23, 2017
Sunday Jul 23, 2017
Boxes: Disrupting the Classroom “We’ve never done it that way before” are famously the 7 last words of any institution. Education is an institution we can’t let expire, but something has to die - maybe it’s the way we do it. Brenda Cassellius, State Commissioner of Education and Jacob’s Well groupie, has a fire in her belly for this. She is ready to help Minnesota face hard realities and guide us to new possibilities. We all need a Brenda in our lives because we all have some classrooms that need disrupting.

Boxes: Making Life Miserable - On Purpose
Tuesday Jul 18, 2017
Tuesday Jul 18, 2017
Hopefully you aren't listening with the hopes of us making you feel all better, because Charles Carlson doesn’t do that. A Jacob’s Well-er and Metro Transit Sr Mgr, Charles is helping plan the four year chaos of I-35W, Minnesota’s busiest highway and right in our neighborhood. He joins Greg to fill us in on what we won’t be able to do in our cars for years, and to nudge us to look at our own lives and why we would choose disruption to accomplish something important. And what we can do to not just survive, but thrive through it.

What Else Can You Do?
Wednesday Jul 12, 2017
Wednesday Jul 12, 2017
In this Leftovers Podcast, we talk about competence and what it may look like to step out from beneath its shadow and grow in the places where we lack it! Melissa Lock, Greg Meyer, and Chris Tripolino dive right in to this conversation inspired by this week's conversation with our friend Eddie Hamilton.

Boxes: What Else Can You Do?

Jacob’s Well-er, artist and Special Education teacher, Eddie Hamilton, has good reason to stick with what he can do, but he doesn’t. He explores outside his boxes. This spring he gave a TEDx talk about what he is learning and it speaks volumes to what each of our struggles to balance the comfort of what we know and are competent at, and the unknown possibilities lying just outside our grasp. Get ready to consider “what else you can do” with Greg and Eddie!

Pastors & Surgeons

Pastors and Surgeons Chris Lillehei, our site host and a seminary student, fits the pastor column. His dad, Craig, just happens to be a Pediatric Surgeon at Boston Children’s Hospital and faculty at Harvard Medical School. He practices science at it and that hasn’t made him give up on God or faith, it has clarified it for him. Listen in and hear what pastors and surgeons have in common.

Slipping on Banana Peels - Leftovers Podcast
Tuesday Jun 20, 2017
Tuesday Jun 20, 2017
Melissa Lock and Chris Tripolino go bananas for some of the ways that we can get beyond the "single story;" the simplistic view of the people around us that inspires little more than judgement and annoyance. Don't judge a...banana by its peel. You might find something truly amazing.

Galaxies & Big Stuff
Sunday Jun 18, 2017
Sunday Jun 18, 2017
Galaxies and Big Stuff No matter what you think, you have nooooo idea what big is. Big is… well, BIG! We’ll get to that in the message. But just realizing how unrealizable big big is isn’t a good enough reason to show up this morning, so we’re going to stop and think about what it means to be the puny things we are in this gut wrenchingly big universe. It’s actually good stuff. Really. So put on your safety goggles and lab coat and we’ll see what we can learn about us and the universe.
