Thoughts and Prayers: Let Us Pray?
Sunday Mar 18, 2018
Sunday Mar 18, 2018
So, let us pray. What do you think? It’s not hard to conjure up uncomfortable images of people “praying” together that, at best, feel forced and hollow and worse, hurtful and manipulative. But lots of us have had deeply meaningful times of prayer with others. What if prayer is less a thing we do and more a space we enter into to discover something new?

Thoughts and Prayers: Wishing on a Star
Sunday Mar 11, 2018
Sunday Mar 11, 2018
Can prayer actually change anything? Or does prayer just make us feel better after we say amen? The answer, of course, is more complicated than yes or no. We will be focusing on the role listening has in prayer, and the ways that prayer changes us, and makes us go out to make our world more whole. I'll be praying you join us.

Thoughts and Prayers: The Vending Machine
Sunday Mar 04, 2018
Sunday Mar 04, 2018
The phrase ‘thoughts and prayers’ has become shorthand for, "I care, but not enough to change anything." It's become a stand-in for taking action. What’s the point of prayer then? Can’t we just act in the world and not deal with this whole prayer thing? Well. . . no. Prayer is an essential part of weaving the "ROPE," even if it is weird.

Leftovers: Make A Dent...Fill-in?
Thursday Mar 01, 2018
Thursday Mar 01, 2018
Chris and Melissa have some questions about Greg's recent fill-in of "fill-in" as they share thoughts about leadership, delegation, synergy, and how that can be seen in Jacob's Well.

Make A Dent: Can't Someone Else Do This?
Sunday Feb 25, 2018
Sunday Feb 25, 2018
Of course someone else can do it, but that doesn’t change the fact that you were the one called. But don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. Leaders aren’t loners. Loners measure their impact by what they do. Leaders measure it by what others do because of them. When Moses got tapped by God, it took him awhile to figure it out but he finally realized his job was to tap others. If leadership feels heavy, maybe it’s time to start tapping!

Make A Dent: I Have No Idea How to Do This
Sunday Feb 18, 2018
Sunday Feb 18, 2018
In desperate situations Indiana Jones is always asked, “What’s your plan?” And his classic response is, “I’m working on it.” Seat of the pants leadership is probably the only form of authentic leadership, but that doesn’t mean wishful thinking is worth following. You will need to pull the necessary pieces together and put them to work. Moses’ lesson this week is that before we start looking all around us, a search needs to happen inside us. Let’s start looking!

Make A Dent: Who Died and Made You King?
Sunday Feb 11, 2018
Sunday Feb 11, 2018
Leadership has its own version of buyer’s remorse. It’s getting all hyped up to be the champion, take the risk, march on out there, only to lose your courage and conviction when everyone looks at you like, “Who do you think you are?” The fact is that you do not have the skills, experience or natural abilities to change the world. Sorry, but someone had to tell you that. But then, you don’t have to. Someone needs to tell you that too. You see, stepping up to leadership is up to you, but it’s not about you. That’s what Moses discovered. You will too. Make a dent!

Make a Dent: Who Am I To Lead?
Monday Feb 05, 2018
Monday Feb 05, 2018
It’s easy to look at the heroes in our life and think that they are special in some way, that they never felt scared or doubted their own abilities. The reality is that all of those people we look up to are us, but just a little farther along. The only difference is that they’ve taken steps forward that we haven’t yet taken. Let’s explore those first steps that are necessary for making a dent, through the life of Moses, a long dead, much revered, very scared man.
