Body± Shame
Sunday Jul 22, 2018
Sunday Jul 22, 2018
We all have awareness around our body. Most of the time that awareness turns to shame, the feeling that we are less valuable because of our bodies. This week we're going to be talking about the ways we body shame ourselves and each other. We'll be joined by Sarah Busch, an expert in bully prevention who also has experienced body shaming firsthand (like most of us). Let's work together to create a post-body shame world.

Body± Transitions
Sunday Jul 15, 2018
Sunday Jul 15, 2018
On July 15, we were fortunate to have Angie & Mike Sonrode join us from the Mid Drift Movement (check out that podcast here). Intern Pastor Paul Rosenwinkel also shared some thoughts (and a challenge) related to the transitions our bodies go through, the scars that are part of us, and the wholeness and perfection our bodies still have.

Body± Transitions
Sunday Jul 15, 2018
Sunday Jul 15, 2018
Like it our not, our bodies change over time. Sometimes that comes from a specific event, like childbirth, surgery, or an injury, and sometimes that change just comes from time. How can we learn to love our changing bodies, instead of just tolerate them? Angie and Mike Sonrode from the Mid Drift Movement spoke about the transitions our bodies undergo, and the wholeness and perfection they still have.
The Mid Drift Movement is an inclusive movement with a focus on postpartum (after birth) body image. The Sonrodes reference this video (and you can hear a portion of it), which gives a good sense of what they're about.

Tuesday Jul 10, 2018
Tuesday Jul 10, 2018
Back in April of 2014 Terry Esau shared a message as part of our "Real & Ideal" series. Real and Ideal has a lot to say about our attitudes to our own bodies and our health. Listen to this particularly poignant story Terry told us. It fits the Body± from this past week well. Want to hear Terry's whole message? Here's a LINK.

Body± Health
Sunday Jul 08, 2018
Sunday Jul 08, 2018
Everyone wants to be more healthy. However, most of us don’t have a solid idea of what ‘healthy’ actually means. Does it mean running a 5 minute mile? Having a toned physique? Being able to get out of bed? This week we will be talking with Farrah Frye, yoga teacher and mindfulness practitioner, about bodies and what ‘healthy’ means for each of us.

Paul Rosenwinkel talks about some of the things people are hung up on and ask him when they find out he's a pastor...you know, things like science, God, and aliens.

Third Way Relationships: Fit the Mold
Sunday Jun 24, 2018
Sunday Jun 24, 2018
One size fits all. That always works right? While “fitting the mold” may seem desirable on the surface, inevitably, there can be friction when our definition of the mold doesn’t match that of society and culture. Sometimes too we run into spaces in life or parts of ourselves that don’t seem to fit the mold. So, what do we do? When this happens it seems like we have two options: either pretend and just try as hard as we can to “fit the mold,” or pretend like the molds don’t really exist and that we don’t really care about the molds that have been presented to us. There has to be a third way in all this that allows us another option in relationship- that is where we are going this week.

Third Way Relationships: Put Your Kids in the Corner
Sunday Jun 17, 2018
Sunday Jun 17, 2018
Every parent wants what's best for their child. There are whole industries telling parents what parenting techniques to use, what schools to go to, what toys to buy, what books to read, all with the goal of raising a child that is happy, healthy, and wealthy. This father's day we're providing some clarity to all this mumbo jumbo, and presenting an argument for why you should put your kids in the corner.
