The Long Haul: Discovery
Sunday Sep 09, 2018
Sunday Sep 09, 2018
Discovery: What is life for the long haul? We all know what to do for today, but finding the time, energy, maybe the money is overwhelming. And then you get to do it all over again tomorrow. And the day after… That may be what life feels like, but is it what life is about? For millennia some have stepped out of the current, taken a look, and said no. Life for the long haul is different than life for right now. As we intentionally live into our new name, Fabric, and start our fall of busy-ness, taking a look at life for the long haul feels just right.

Weaving Deeper
Sunday Sep 02, 2018
Sunday Sep 02, 2018
We will have been Jacob’s Well for 12 years on Sept 17 and that’s about to change! As a community solely focused on our mission everything that doesn’t move us that direction is negotiable… even our name. We’ve been talking about a new name for about 9 months and we have one. This week we shared our new name and how it can help us be the community we want to be even better. Thanks for being Jacob’s Well, er… whatever…, with us!

Godflix: Coco
Sunday Aug 19, 2018
Sunday Aug 19, 2018
August 19-Coco: “Coco” was the animated highlight of the last year. Not only is it fun and touching, it also drives home important messages about remembering who we are and from where we came. It also helps us understand our own path and how to not be an obstacle to those whose paths differ from ours. Greg Meyer and Maia Dalager dig into Coco and were also joined by Minneapolis marketer and entrepreneur, Thom Sandberg, as he tells us about his recent project, “SecondLifeDay.”

Godflix: Love, Simon
Sunday Aug 12, 2018
Sunday Aug 12, 2018
Love, Simon is the coming of age story we needed but never thought would come out. Simon is an ordinary teen living an ordinary life, except that he has a big secret: he is gay. Coming out has been an historically scary thing, whether people are worried about safety, acceptance, or even just being the same as before coming out. How do we, as fellow humans, allow each other to breathe and live our truths without enforcing stereotypes and expectations? Wren Warpula and Zuko Beuchler explore coming out of the closet, taking risks and daring to just be ourselves.

Black Panther is undoubtedly one of of the most impactful movies of 2018. Why was it so important, and what did it actually do in our culture? Today we talk about the importance of counter-mythology with poet, teacher, and activist, Joe Davis. Check out more of Joe's work at his website, http://joedavispoetry.com/.

Godflix: The Man Who Invented Christmas
Sunday Jul 29, 2018
Sunday Jul 29, 2018
"The Man Who Invented Christmas" This is the story of Charles Dickens’ (Dan Stevens) writing of “A Christmas Carol.” Its setting is Christmas (who doesn’t want a dose of Christmas in July!) but the movie is about a lot more. Not only was his character, Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), tormented by ghosts to reclaim his soul, but Charles found himself dragged through his own life and reclaimed in the facing of his ghosts. Question: Got any ghosts? We all do. Maybe that’s what this movie is all about. It’s a fun, poignant and touching family film.
