Why It Matters: Because There are No Do-overs (But Always 2nd Chances)
Sunday Jul 07, 2019
Sunday Jul 07, 2019
You may consider it a nuance but do-overs and second chances are not the same. Do-overs require time travel and second chances don’t. Everyone wishes for a do-over of something they regret. Not enough people are willing to do what it takes to make next time different, however. Making your life matter doesn’t mean getting it all right, it’s living looking forward at what could be.

Why It Matters: Because It’s How the Universe Works
Wednesday Jul 03, 2019
Wednesday Jul 03, 2019
We all want our lives to matter yet we spend so much time, attention and energy on stuff that doesn’t. What if life simply does matter. What if rather than working so hard to make yourself matter you simply focused on how you already do? A big part of that is not trying to recreate the universe. It’s been done and you are part of it. Your mattering fits into how the universe matters.

This episode captures framing from Greg Meyer about what it means to BE Fabric, especially as it relates to Pride Twin Cities next weekend and moves into the takeaways from groups of those gathered as a conclusion of our open space experience talking about Pride and our community's involvement as members of the queer community or allies for it.

We Get to Do This!
Sunday Jun 09, 2019

Two things tend to be true about most important parts of life: they are the most work, and they are the most rewarding. Those truths proved to be true in the enormous amount of work it took to start Fabric in 2006 and tend to be true in our individual lives as well. This episode is about saying thank you to the people who have taken on a "get too!" instead of a "have to" stance and made things that matter happen. We are all the thankers and thanked. Let's celebrate this great stuff we get to do!

Futurescapes: Choosing Inconvenience
Tuesday Jun 04, 2019
Tuesday Jun 04, 2019
What’s wrong with convenience? Nothing, except when it gets in the way of what needs to happen. Thinking and habits can be couch potatoes leaving us stuck where we are. In this episode, Greg shares about messing with and celebrating that we can and do choose what works over what is convenient. Included in that are new names for our kids’ areas (The Pond, Splashville, H2O, River Rats and The Lounge) so they align with our identity as Fabric. Yes, it is change, and yes, that is a reason to have hope!

Futurescapes: Hearing Voices
Sunday May 26, 2019

Who wants to go to a choral concert for which only the baritones, or mezzo sopranos show up. And while the solo contingent may get a lot of attention, even they will have to admit that the music wasn’t what it could have been. We live in a world in which some of the most beautiful voices have been missing. Many never noticed, many endured the pain of silence. Today we are starting to hear black and brown, LGBTQ, immigrant and other voices. It is disruptive but also a reason to have hope!

Futurescapes: Systems Thinking
Sunday May 19, 2019

Science is wonderful, but there is a trap in it. That trap is the illusion that one can know all one needs to know about a thing by studying the thing. It doesn’t work that way. People from many disciplines and parts of life are realizing what our ancestors knew long ago; that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. We are opening so many new doors by discovering our connectedness. Now that is a reason to have hope!
