GODFLIX: Bohemian Rhapsody

Queen was one of the best selling bands of all time. Their run cut short by the AIDS related death of their eccentric genius leader, Freddie Mercury. That’s not their story, though. They weren’t rockstars above the rest of us but people like the rest of us dealing with intense lives magnified by the lens of popularity and artistic passion. The band gave us music we all love; the movie delivers lessons from life to treasure about how we can see and value each other for who we each are.
GODFLIX messages are heavy on visuals, so be sure to watch the film, find the outline and related resources at https://www.fabricmpls.com/scraps and find others to reflect with!

GODFLIX: Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse
Sunday Aug 04, 2019
Sunday Aug 04, 2019
How will you know you are ready? You won’t. It is a leap of faith.
What is it for you? Quitting a job, confronting a friend, giving tough love to your kid/spouse/parent/cousin. Maybe entering a relationship, having a child, or moving to a different state. Whatever your leap of faith is, we all need to do it, but not alone. This message from Fabric Youth Leader and Site Host Maia Dalager is inspired by Miles Morales and the other Spider-verse characters as they face failure and take the risk anyway. Maia even started out the morning with a trust fall off of a table in front of everyone.

Building Our City: You are a Cultural Architect
Monday Jul 29, 2019
Monday Jul 29, 2019
Last week we talked about how we build our city for the better with bricks and mortar, this week we’re talking about flesh and blood. Joe Davis, poet, musician, thinker and entrepreneur is with us today and will be helping us see how we are all cultural architects; that means we all shape the lives of the people around us through our actions and relationships. What does the world you are creating look like? How can you make it happen? Got a plan? Let’s talk.
The Word Clouds from the conversation are below. Find the outline and related resources at https://www.fabricmpls.com/scraps. Also watch for our regular "scraps" podcasts where we talk through other ideas and parts of the message that ended up on the cutting room floor.

Building Our City: What Roads & Bridges Are All About
Sunday Jul 21, 2019
Sunday Jul 21, 2019
You've likely noticed the construction on 35W, talk of the 2040 Plan, the Minnehaha Parkway Plan or the Minneapolis Public Schools Comprehensive District Design. There are a lot of changes and not everyone is happy while other people have been waiting for a looooong time for them. In this episode, Fabric-guy, Charles Carlson, who is also Director for BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) Projects with Metro Transit, joins us to share a bigger picture of what’s inside and behind these changes. Hint, it’s not just social policy, it’s about the 3-stranded fabric we’re all woven into.

Why It Matters: Because the possibilities are limitless
Sunday Jul 14, 2019
Sunday Jul 14, 2019
You’ve probably told someone, or had someone tell you that you can accomplish anything you want! That’s probably not true. But since when was it all about what you could accomplish? There is a difference between what you really want and what really matters. Even getting a glimpse of God’s view of the world and your life - that above, below, around and beyond view that you’ll never fully grasp - is mindblowing. And it matters!

Why It Matters: Because There are No Do-overs (But Always 2nd Chances)
Sunday Jul 07, 2019
Sunday Jul 07, 2019
You may consider it a nuance but do-overs and second chances are not the same. Do-overs require time travel and second chances don’t. Everyone wishes for a do-over of something they regret. Not enough people are willing to do what it takes to make next time different, however. Making your life matter doesn’t mean getting it all right, it’s living looking forward at what could be.

Why It Matters: Because It’s How the Universe Works
Wednesday Jul 03, 2019
Wednesday Jul 03, 2019
We all want our lives to matter yet we spend so much time, attention and energy on stuff that doesn’t. What if life simply does matter. What if rather than working so hard to make yourself matter you simply focused on how you already do? A big part of that is not trying to recreate the universe. It’s been done and you are part of it. Your mattering fits into how the universe matters.
