Futurescapes: Hearing Voices
Sunday May 26, 2019

Who wants to go to a choral concert for which only the baritones, or mezzo sopranos show up. And while the solo contingent may get a lot of attention, even they will have to admit that the music wasn’t what it could have been. We live in a world in which some of the most beautiful voices have been missing. Many never noticed, many endured the pain of silence. Today we are starting to hear black and brown, LGBTQ, immigrant and other voices. It is disruptive but also a reason to have hope!

Futurescapes: Systems Thinking
Sunday May 19, 2019
Sunday May 19, 2019
Science is wonderful, but there is a trap in it. That trap is the illusion that one can know all one needs to know about a thing by studying the thing. It doesn’t work that way. People from many disciplines and parts of life are realizing what our ancestors knew long ago; that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. We are opening so many new doors by discovering our connectedness. Now that is a reason to have hope!

Futurescapes: Educating Girls
Monday May 13, 2019
Monday May 13, 2019
In case you are thinking that's an inappropriate title (especially on Mother's Day) well, if only it were. Unfortunately, there are surprising segments of society left out of the system and the repercussions are hurting us all. Annie Mason, Program Director of Elementary Teacher Education at the U of MN, spoke with Greg Meyer, to help us see the problems and the possibilities that lay within this futurescape.

Futurescapes: Making Mistakes
Sunday May 05, 2019
Sunday May 05, 2019
“Everybody makes mistakes.” How many times was that told to you to help you put something that went poorly behind you? You know the real problem with mistakes? We put them behind us. We think they are, uh, mistakes. No, they are experiences! Just like every other experience. They make us who we are and teach us what we can and might do. A bright spot on the futurescape is a newfound recognition of the value of mistakes. Now that is a reason to have hope!

Futurescapes: Digital Photography
Sunday Apr 28, 2019
Sunday Apr 28, 2019
On Sunday, April 28, we had the privilege of welcoming acclaimed photographer Layne Kennedy to help us see the futurescape through the lens of digital photography. Maybe that doesn't sound particularly spiritual, but it's less a out the craft of digital photography than what it represents. Catching a shot or video on your phone has snuck up on us as film and cameras have faded away so quickly, yet almost silently, and we miss the revolution within it. What it reminds us of is less about pictures than a futurescape that could be and maybe already is. Now that is reason to have hope!
Much of the message was connected to Layne's photos. You can follow along with them here: https://www.fabricmpls.com/blog/2019/4/28/futurescapes-digital-photography-with-layne-kennedy

Wednesday Apr 24, 2019
If Easter is announcing anything, it is that the world is wide open. Possibilities belong to those who have eyes to see them and the will to work toward them. There are many things today that may make you cynical, resigned and hopeless, but that’s not all that is happening. There are movements, ideas and inventions that will not be ignored pointing to a future big enough for our dreams. It's time to do some futurescaping.

The Power of Yet
Sunday Apr 21, 2019
Sunday Apr 21, 2019
If Easter is announcing anything, it is that the world is wide open. Possibilities abound in a world with people who have eyes to see them and three strands worth of strength, insight, courage and persistence to make them happen! Sure, there are reasons to lose hope but there are movements, ideas and inventions that say, “Not Yet!” In this episode, Greg has a conversation with Romper the otter to explore that hope in ways that speak to everyone’s heart; young and old.
