Our focus on ‘Hearing Voices’ is not meant to make us more open-minded, but more open-lived. Hearing Voices: A Different Kind of Listening

The world is not the place you think it is. Your world has been carefully curated to present a certain story that has a lot to do with how life turns out for different people. Whether you’ve been aware of it or not, you have been advantaged or disadvantaged by that story. That isn’t the world Jesus told stories about nor that stands behind the unrealized dream of “All people are created equal.” This first of our six-week odyssey of listening to more stories from more voices; starts with your own.

We've just spent roughly six weeks as a community in conversation around forgiveness. It's probably just what was needed as we prepare to dive into a conversation full of land mines, ruts, and some deep motivation to maintain the status quo. Forgiveness is a lot of work. Especially when we live in a way that expects no problems and has to muster the courage to deal with them when they inevitably show up. What if we saw life differently? What if we assumed friction, problems and offenses were part of life together and used them to grow rather than hide from them? And what if forgiveness wasn’t a big event but a way of life?

We've acknowledged how forgiveness can be a dirty word. We ignore it, cheapen it, and try to escape from it, but are we just making too big a deal about it? In this episode, Melissa, Greg, and Chris step back and ask the question,  "Is the f word really a big deal?"

Learning the F Word: F Yourself

F'ing yourself, um, meaning forgiving yourself can be the hardest of all the forgiveness challenges. It is easier to write yourself off as unforgivable, or just forget about it and move on. But should you choose to do the real thing and realize, accept and deal with all the messed up stuff you are and have done, well, that will be a journey. Maybe the most important journey of your life. 
In this episode, Greg Meyer helps us see how there's forgiveness woven into the fabric of the universe and it's not only worth it, but possible, to offer it to yourself.
