Learning the F Word: Getting F'd
Sunday Sep 15, 2019
Sunday Sep 15, 2019
That sounds horrible, but it’s really wonderful, if you realize that this F word is forgiveness. Getting forgiven means you have to say one of the hardest phrases in any language, “I’m sorry.” Asking someone you’ve hurt to forgive you may not seem like the highlight of your day but what if it was? What if it meant moving from the world you were enduring to one with wide open possibility? That’s worth talking about!

Learning the F Word: Why the F Word is Bad
Sunday Sep 08, 2019
Sunday Sep 08, 2019
Why the F Word is Bad - You may have been raised not to say the F word. You were also probably raised not to use the other F word. Forgiveness. Sure, you’ve said it, you can define it, but the only people who understand it are the ones who have had their lives turned upside-down by it. Forgiveness isn’t for those who want revenge, the status quo or even justice, it’s for those who want a life they can’t imagine yet.

GODFLIX: The Hate U Give
Sunday Aug 25, 2019
Sunday Aug 25, 2019
In this episode Melissa Lock reflects on the movie version of Angie Thomas' book, The Hate U Give, where Starr Carter embarks on an awakening no one would wish for when she witnesses the police-shooting of her childhood friend, Kahlil. True to her name, Starr shines a light for all of us on the complicated and costly realities of racism in the United States and what it looks like to choose the path of honor over hate.

GODFLIX: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
Sunday Aug 18, 2019
Sunday Aug 18, 2019
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World includes everything you’d expect from an animated film about warriors and dragons. There are characters coming of age, tension between good and evil, love, loss and leaving home. But the main theme of the story is the most difficult thing most of us will ever have to do in life. Andy Jolivette will say more.

GODFLIX: Bohemian Rhapsody
Tuesday Aug 13, 2019
Tuesday Aug 13, 2019
Queen was one of the best selling bands of all time. Their run cut short by the AIDS related death of their eccentric genius leader, Freddie Mercury. That’s not their story, though. They weren’t rockstars above the rest of us but people like the rest of us dealing with intense lives magnified by the lens of popularity and artistic passion. The band gave us music we all love; the movie delivers lessons from life to treasure about how we can see and value each other for who we each are.

GODFLIX: Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse
Sunday Aug 04, 2019
Sunday Aug 04, 2019
How will you know you are ready? You won’t. It is a leap of faith.
What is it for you? Quitting a job, confronting a friend, giving tough love to your kid/spouse/parent/cousin. Maybe entering a relationship, having a child, or moving to a different state. Whatever your leap of faith is, we all need to do it, but not alone. This message from Fabric Youth Leader and Site Host Maia Dalager is inspired by Miles Morales and the other Spider-verse characters as they face failure and take the risk anyway. Maia even started out the morning with a trust fall off of a table in front of everyone.
GODFLIX messages tend to be heavy on the visuals, so be sure to watch the film, find the outline and related resources at https://www.fabricmpls.com/scraps and find others to reflect with!

Monday Jul 29, 2019
Monday Jul 29, 2019
Last week we talked about how we build our city for the better with bricks and mortar, this week we’re talking about flesh and blood. Joe Davis, poet, musician, thinker and entrepreneur is with us today and will be helping us see how we are all cultural architects; that means we all shape the lives of the people around us through our actions and relationships. What does the world you are creating look like? How can you make it happen? Got a plan? Let’s talk.
The Word Clouds from the conversation are below. Find the outline and related resources at https://www.fabricmpls.com/scraps. Also watch for our regular "scraps" podcasts where we talk through other ideas and parts of the message that ended up on the cutting room floor.
