Melissa and Chris pick Greg's brain about how to engage really difficult passages of the Bible like the ones we've been hovering around in our time in Deuteronomy during New Grooves. Is it really worth it to read the Bible?

New Grooves 4: Why Grooves
Sunday Jan 29, 2017
Sunday Jan 29, 2017
Why Grooves? (January 29) – Why can’t we just find something that works and stick with it? Why all this change and adaptation? Well, physics has a concept called entropy that in technical terms says ‘things fall apart.’ It seems that entropy isn’t just true about physics, it’s true about life. Change just doesn’t end. Israel found that when they finally got where they were going that they had just started their journey – change. Let’s take a look at the ‘why’ of all this change and discover how our wilderness wanderings fit into our promised lands.

New Grooves 3: Groove Truth
Sunday Jan 22, 2017
Sunday Jan 22, 2017
Groove Truth - You did it! You made it to the other side of the river. The change is done. Wow, aren’t you special? Well, not according to God. I mean, yeah, you’re special, really special, in fact, but it isn’t all about you. There is some important groove truth in how you got where you are and why. Israel went through some great pains to help us learn this and our world really needs us to get this today. Let’s take a look.

New Grooves 2: The New Groove
Sunday Jan 15, 2017
Sunday Jan 15, 2017
The New Groove - If you were with us last week you saw Chloe baptized. It was a figurative ‘crossing of the river’ for her into a new life; or perhaps a life of newness. We all need that. We need lives that don’t rely so much on ‘what was,’ or ‘what is’ that they can’t be unmade to be remade for the new groove of ‘what’s next.’ Israel faced that new groove long ago and there is a great story about it in Deuteronomy 8. Let’s take a look at what happened then, and at what’s happening now and see if there isn’t something to learn.

New Grooves 1: Switching Grooves
Monday Jan 09, 2017
Monday Jan 09, 2017
Switching Grooves (January 8th) – It would be nice to ‘find your groove’ and settle into it, but that’s not what happens. Instead we search for our groove and just when we think we’ve got it… Boom. Everything changes. It’s not just us, way back a couple 1000 years ago Israel had its epic experience wandering through the wilderness, finally arriving on the front step of their destination only to discover it was a whole new ballgame. They were switching grooves. They experienced stuff we need to learn. Get ready to switch grooves!
