Fear is the biggest obstacle to being a
good neighbor. It creates distance and
distrust. God is in the fear dismantling
business - that's what love is all about.
So, how do we move beyond fear and into
being neighbors with those who we don't
understand? What kind of neighborhood
can we be a part of creating through a love that casts out fear? Let's figure it out together! Here are the links to the two videos Mike shared Sunday:Carefully Taught (3:22) and The Danger of a Single Story (Full 18 min TED Talk)More resources relating to this message available at www.jacobs-well.net/leftovers

Week 2 - Neighbors I don't like. Ever notice it is easier to be neighborly to people you like? Duh! That’s not the challenge, is it? It’s dealing with difficult people that tests our neighborliness. How do you deal with difficult, unlovable weirdos? Do you deal with them? Or do you avoid, isolate, move on? It’s not enough to say, “Don’t do that.” What we need is hearts that are big enough for people who rub us the wrong way and strategies that build bridges. It’s time to talk and time to practice.More resources relating to this message available at www.jacobs-well.net/leftovers

Easter 2015EASTER! New life, spring, celebrations… what’s not to like about Easter? If that was all it took, new life would be springing up as irrepressibly as daffodils. The truth is that there is a lot of foot dragging and hanging on to what needs to go – so that what could be never happens. Maybe that sounds familiar. It’s hard to let go of something that isn’t perfect, but you have it. And how do you lose a bad habit that’s as comfortable as an old pair of shoes? Jesus didn’t die and live to prove a point, but to help you die and live again – in real and powerful ways. Let’s do it! Welcome Eddie Hamilton, our artist working with us this morning!
